Entry and stay in Romania

If you plan to visit Romania, you should carefully read and take note of the following requirements and procedures.

Specific Information for Canadian Citizens

In accordance with the Romanian Law no. 1108, dated October 25, 2001, the Canadians citizens are exempted from the entrance visa regime for a period of stay up to 90 days within a six-month period. Those 90 days may be spread across one or more visits.

The validity term of the travel document must exceed the journey period with at least 3 months.

If you are intending to extend your visit in Romania for more than 3 months, you can apply for the Registration certificate issued by the Romanian Office for Immigration: http://ori.mai.gov.ro/home/index/en

The applicants shall be bound to submit the applications for the granting of the right to stay at least 30 days before the expiry of the term of the right to stay and they shall pay visa fee. In such case the applicants receive Temporary or Permanent Stay Permits.

Specific Information for Citizens of Other Countries

The citizens of other countries who have the residence in Canada and would like to travel to Romania have the prior obligation to apply for a visa at a diplomatic mission or consular office, except those citizens arriving from countries with which Romania concluded agreements on abolition of visa requirements or has renounced unilaterally at the visa requirement.
